The importance of slick animations for this mod can never be understated, as kung fu action is more about looks and style than it is about practicality. The animation work was a daunting task that took up the majority of my elbow grease. That isn't to say this was easy, considering the fact I am not an animator by trade and have no experience in using such software packages. The animation work, on the other hand, was a far less esoteric process, done all by hand using commercial 3D packages.
Many a sleepless night were spent doing unnatural things to the game objects, trying to discover certain engine quirks that would allow me to accomplish some of the features I was looking for - with results hardly dependable or predictable. It's difficult to describe the process involved in trying to program in some of the kung fu features, as there is no actual 'code' per se, so conventional programming wisdom goes out the window. Past that, learning the ins and outs of the game engine is something you must discover on your own. There are helpful tutorials and guides available that teach you the basics.
